Rachel and I went into San Quentin on August 16….Rachel’s birthday. We went down into H Unit where we were to minister to the men in the Chapel down there. Here’s what happened when Rachel stood up to share:
“I quickly stood up to execute my 5 minute turn to either give a testimony or share a scripture during Chapel time at San Quentin H-Unit, then, without really planning it, I immediately said: “Can I tell you a secret? It’s my birthday today! About 30 big, strong and tall inmates (I was only half their size) all stood up and cheerfully sang me the best Happy Birthday song ever! I thanked them with teary eyes after the singing and the very loud applause, then proceeded to Mark 12:28-31, where the teacher of the law asked Jesus which is the most important of all the commandments? “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is equally important; Love your neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these.”
Rachel said after that she wanted to be in SQ on every birthday from now on. Godly men, showing God’s love! Praise God!
