VCC Chapel @ Santa Rita Jail

Our team goes into Santa Rita Jail on the first Tuesday night of each month. We just went in on March 3rd. Every Chapel time is different; we never know what to expect except that God will do something amazing.

Rachel Webb, Dalen Fuller and I got there about 7 pm and were told by the Chaplain that we would have to wait as there was a Catholic Reconciliation service going on.

So the three of us spent the time praying and singing praises to God. By the time we got into the Chapel with the 14 girls from Unit 24 there wasn’t much time left, as we need to be out of the institution by 9 pm. But you know what? God multiplied that time!

Rachel led us in several songs, Dalen shared a verse/testimony and then I shared the Word from Isaiah 61: 2-3,7. The whole focus was on God’s transforming power from our ashes to His beauty.

The girls started crying and connecting right away with Rachel’s worship and the Holy Spirit continued to work throughout our time there. We watched the Holy Spirit touch and love on each woman. We saw hope restored and purpose renewed. We prayed over the women and saw the power of God do what only He is capable of doing.

Also, Deputy Mitchell who had volunteered to cover this time told us…”take all the time we needed”… God has sent us a Christian deputy.
