On Monday 12/12/16 we held our 2nd Annual VOTW (Voice Outside the Walls) Christmas Dinner. These are the family members that have a loved one who is incarcerated.
Under the skillful leadership of Sheila Turbinton, this ministry has grown leaps and bounds!
It is a hard time of year for the families and to see them together enjoying a great dinner donated by Rigatoni’s is really a wonderful site.
Two of the family members shared their very heart felt stories of how it felt to have someone in prison; how VOTW had not only helped and encouraged them but consider it “extended family”.
Pastor Morris Curry, previous Chaplain at San Quentin spoke to the families acknowledging that these families are also “serving time”. Pastor Curry spoke to and honored a previous inmate from San Quentin, who became a Pastor on the inside and now ministers on the outside.
After great worship, plenty of pasta and wonderful desserts, we ended the evening with prayer at each table. That’s a wonderful sound.
