An article recently came across my desk that was too important to not share. Sally Scholl, a long time member of Valley Christian Center and Missions Board member, was recognized for her many years of service with Lifewater International and missions work.
Last February, I had the privilege to join Sally on a Lifewater team training trip to Ethiopia. While it was my rookie year of serving with Lifewater, it was Sally’s 20th trip overseas! She amazed me with her energy (and iron gut) to withstand any obstacle we faced, be it harsh traveling conditions or long hours of serving.
With certainty, one can see the joy and passion in which Sally serves. Her love for people is contagious and her hard work and dedication is stronger than most people’s in their 30’s. While those enjoying retirement see their time as slowing down, Sally’s has only ramped up. It was after retirement that Sally joined the Peace Corps spending two years in Kenya. She has since spent many years serving with Lifewater International as a training and clean water and sanitation specialist.
It is a joy to serve alongside this amazing and Godly woman. Her love for the Lord is evident in how she passionately serves those He loves. I am proud of how she so valiantly carries the banner of love and how she has answered her calling to serve.
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” – James 1:27
