Human relationships are complex. For any two people to walk together, there must be some level of understanding, some commitment to the relationship, some issues that a person must die too. Or too say it another way, if there is no understanding of each other, no commitment to the bond or no willingness to surrender, chances are the relationship could stumble, perhaps even fall. The Biblical authors are keenly aware of these tensions. From Genesis to Revelation, we see the frictions of human relationships. Some were able to find a way to overcome the blockage. Others grieved as they watched their relationships disintegrate. Jesus says, “A house divided cannot stand (Matt. 12:25, Mark 3:24 and Luke 11:17). In the next few weeks, I want to surface relationships we all face and need some grace. Forces in Hell want to see our house divided. Our prayer and hope that through our time together, we will see by God’s spirit, our homes UNITED.
